feeling stuck

If you’re feeling stuck in your business, it’s a great time for self-inquiry.

Have you ever experienced a time where you were feeling stuck, frustrated and dissatisfied with the current state of your business? When you knew something needed to change, but you’re just weren’t sure what?

We all go through phases where we feel stuck. Sometimes it’s because we’re caught up in analysis paralysis, trying to figure out the “right” answer.

Other times, it’s because we honestly don’t know what to do to move ourselves forward. In some cases, we may know what to do, but we’re too debilitated by fear to take any action.

This becomes even more frustrating, because by doing nothing, nothing changes.

nothing changes unless you do

Feeling stuck in your business? Here are 9 questions to ask yourself.

1. In what specific area am I feeling stuck?

Think about the specific aspect where you’re feeling stuck. If you had to narrow it down, where do you feel the most frustrated? What do you wish could be changed?

2. What is it that I want most right now?

Ask yourself what it is that you truly want most. Get really specific. If there were no bounds or limits, what exactly would you want your life to look like in this area?

3. Why do I want this?

Imagine actually receiving and experiencing the change you most want to see. What would this change allow you to do, be, or have?

4. How do I want to feel?

We all have imagined the feelings that new things or experiences will bring us. If you got what you wanted, how would you expect to feel?

5. What’s standing in my way?

Now that you have a clear picture of what it is you want, it’s time to get honest with yourself. What do you see as obstacles? List all of them, both external and internal.

6. What am I believing to be true?

So often we get stuck in our own beliefs and assumptions. What are you believing to be true that isn’t 100% true? How can  you challenge your current beliefs?

7. How can I better support myself?

Feeling stuck is hard, but changing things can sometimes be even harder. Often we have to get to a place of discomfort before we are able to change. What kind of support do you need to make this desired change?

8. Who can help me?

It’s challenging to make changes, because in order to change, something has to shift. Having a support resource like a certified coach can help you make the lasting changes you seek.

9. What is one step today I can take to move forward?

What is one thing you can do today (however small) to help move yourself in the direction you desire?

What’s next?

If you go through this process, and still feel stuck or unclear, take your time and be patient with yourself. But remember, that clarity comes from engagement, not thought.

So once you have identified what it is you want, where you’re stuck, and how you can reframe things to better support you, choose an action that moves you forward. Action builds momentum, brings clarity, and provides the impetus necessary to move you forward in a new direction.
